15 weeks old
Today was such a fun family day. Lily actually slept all night long and did not wake up to feed until 8:45 AM. Ethan was working his extra job at the bar last night, so he didn't get to bed until 5:30 this morning after getting home at 5 AM. It worked out well though because I was the energizer bunny after a full night's sleep, so Lily and I hung out while he slept in. After he woke up, we had some breakfast, and then we dressed to go out.

We headed off to Nordstrom to get a new suit for Ethan. The one suit that Ethan has is old. High school old. When he was in high school, he weighed about 35 pounds less than he does right now. (He was so skinny until he was about 24... those 35 pounds are mostly muscle) The suit looked fine if he didn't move. It was just a cheap Men's Wearhouse suit, but it worked for what he needed at the time. He made do with it all these years since he didn't really need a suit for anything. When he graduated from GSU in December 2010, he requested gift cards to Nordstrom when people asked if he wanted anything for a graduation present with the intention of using them towards a new suit. I decided it was time to use those cards towards a suit since we have a wedding next month, and Ethan will eventually need a suit for job interviews when he leaves law enforcement to move to the accounting field in the future.
Folks. I married a mighty fine lookin' man. We picked out a Hugo Boss suit and ... oh my. I can't wait to see him in it at Matt & Carolyn's wedding next month and any other times he wears it! The suit pretty much looks like it was made specifically for him and ::whistles:: he looks sharp. He already has several dress shirts and ties from Nordstrom, so he's all set there. Since Ethan is so tall, he can't buy dress shirts off the rack. He has to buy an XL and then it has to be tailored down to fit him so it's long enough in the torso and arms. Nordstrom is our favorite store because the customer service is unparalleled, and the quality can't be beat. They have on site alterations which is wonderful since their tailors just show up in the fitting room. They'll take back things you have purchased years afterwards if you have a problem with it. In the shoe department, they actually measure your feet and will sell you two different sized shoes if your feet aren't the same size. I kid you not. No pictures of the suit for this post, since it had to be altered to fit him perfectly and we don't pick it up until next Sunday. After Lily had her lunch in the fitting room, we went to Maggiano's for lunch. Lily slept through lunch in the ring sling (which is now my favorite carrier for this stage), and then we headed to the grocery store, and then home. Now we're just relaxing as a family with classical music in the background because our lives are changing again tomorrow.

Tomorrow Ethan heads to training for his new promotion to sergeant! That's right, in 2 weeks I'll be married to a sergeant in the APD. I'm incredibly proud of him, but not at all surprised that he was in the top 25 out of the several hundred who took the exam and oral interview. We won't know his new zone or shift assignment until after his finishes training. Whatever it is, it will be fine. The past 9 years with the APD have been good to us, and we've always made whatever schedule we found ourselves with work for us and still spend plenty of time together. This will be no different.
We have a fun week ahead of us... tomorrow night we are going to a going away party for my dear friend Karen who is moving to California, Wednesday our new mattress is being delivered, and I'm going out for a girls' night with Aneli & Emily to the Melting Pot for "endless fondue", I hope they don't run out of chocolate before we're done with them, haha. Good times.

People have asked if Lily's hair is red. It is not. It is light brown like mine, and almost the same color. In the sun and in certain light it definitely looks reddish, but this is no surprise as my hair is the same way. We thought her hair might possibly be curly, but that doesn't appear to be the case. Hopefully she gets her dad's thick hair and not my super stick straight hair... Her eyes look blue at times depending on what she's wearing, but also look like they're going to turn green/hazel/brown at other times. We'll just have to wait and see!
