When Lily turned 1, her Gramie and Grandpa gave her a gift card for Zoo Atlanta membership, which we were beyond thrilled about! We had been trying for the last month to get there and activate our membership, but had been so busy with other things on Ethan's days off. Ethan really wanted to go with Lily to her first zoo trip... otherwise we would have been several times already! We're so fortunate that we live in the city and only 10 minutes from the Zoo.
We arrived right at opening time, and the weather was in the 60's. Nobody was there, and it was perfect. Almost all the animals were out and very close up for viewing. Minnie E joined us later with her charge, Carter, and it was great to see them as well. Lily loved our zoo visit...although she did confuse the meerkats with dogs. Haha. She'll learn...especially since we'll be going once a week or so!

After we left, we headed to have Ethan's belated birthday lunch! We had planned to go to his favorite pizza place, but I ended up leaving that morning to get to Charlotte so I could meet my best friend's baby the day he was born. :)

Lily crashed hard for her afternoon nap, and Ethan headed off to work. However, the fun wasn't yet over...
I belong to some mom groups here in Atlanta and went to my first group meetup today at a local park around the corner from our house. The other moms were really cool, and I look forward to doing more networking and socialization with them. Lily absolutely loved the other kids (they're all 13-15 months old) and decided at the park that she was done crawling! Yes, that's right... she walked full time, and walked EVERYWHERE. She's still learning to handle inclines and declines, but it was amazing to watch. And also, she discovered she loves swings. The pictures are blurry since an iPhone is only capable of so much when it comes to capturing a swinging baby!

We spent an hour at the park running all over the place, and when we came home had dinner and a nice long bath. Lily went straight to bed because she was so worn out from all the activity! I
LOVE being the mom of a bonda fide toddler. This is my absolute favorite age, and I have so much planned for us to do together! She's so much fun, and her deciding that walking all the time was the bee's knees just kicked open the door of opportunities. Couldn't be happier about that. :)
