Christmas

Last night, we got ready for the Christmas Eve candlelight service at a local church in the little city of Decatur right down the road from us (less than 3 minutes). The service started at 4:30, which was perfect for us timing wise. I had bought a special Christmas dress for Lily last year on clearance, and it fit her perfectly. She wore white tights, black patent leather shoes, a white sweater, and a little white hairbow. Wish I had an actual picture of her entire outfit, but here's us two ladies  getting ready!

Pretty little lady (banging on the door because daddy was taking a shower)
At the candlelight Christmas Eve service (don't worry, Ethan had a death grip on her)
The service was beautiful, and many of my favorite Christmas songs were sung. There was a tenor who sang "O Holy Night" - chills. We lit candles and sang "Silent Night" and then all filed out of the sanctuary. Perfect. Lily was interested in what was going on but was also very vocal with her oohing and aaahing at the manger scene going on, so Ethan and I took turns holding her while standing up in the back and it all worked out. She did become silent whenever singing was happening since she definitely enjoys music. There were tons of other children and babies there, but we didn't want her to distract from the service. After we exited the church, we walked down the street and went to Parker's on Ponce for Christmas Even dinner... I had rack of lamb and Ethan had blackened flatiron steak. My plans for cooking dinner just didn't work timewise, and eating out turned out to be the best choice. No cleanup: bonus! Lily enjoyed eating off our plates as well, and it was just a nice couple of hours eating together as a family.

After we put Lily to bed last night, Ethan and I set to work getting her kitchen ready for the morning. We didn't realize that the clock and timer on the stovetop actually work! So cool.

We put all of the play food inside and set up the stovetop. The pots and pans on top were a gift from Minnie A. Ethan clipped the little hot mitt on the door....he's always been known for paying attention to small details! After we were finished, it looked like this (iPhone photo):

On Christmas morning, after Lily was up and ready for the day, we brought her out to see the Christmas setup... she wasn't paying too much attention to her surroundings because she was excited to be with both of us.

I had to point at the kitchen and say "Look, Lily!" Once she saw it her face had the "Woah!" look and she immediately crawled over to the kitchen. Ethan videoed it but I still haven't downloaded it onto my computer yet. Lily knew exactly what to do with her new toys.

So, to recap: Christmas was wonderful. It was quiet and spent with just us three until Ethan headed off to work in the afternoon afternoon. Lily and I just enjoyed ourselves playing with her new kitchen until it was bedtime for us.
